Wire Hangers and What They Teach Us

Among the stories that Abraham Hicks likes to retell is the one about Esther and her wire hanger.

It goes like this:

At one point, Esther got quite good at jimmying locked cars. So good, she carried an extra wire hanger with her on her road trips in their monster RV. As it happened, almost daily, or twice a day sometimes, she would encounter someone who was locked out of their car, and Esther loved to come to the rescue. Until one day, Jerry, her husband, hid the wire hanger, and, as an apparent result, they stopped encountering people locked out of their cars.

Thus, you get what you prepare for according to the law of attraction.

Last weekend, I went to an Abraham Hicks workshop and heard this story again.

And the story continued a week later after we left because…

My husband and I were camping in Banff, and we walked by a couple who were trying to break into their car with sticks. It was an impossible-looking task and seemed improbable that we were witnessing this right after hearing Abraham’s story. But we were.

I asked my husband if we had a wire hanger in our converted van. We didn’t know. When we returned to the van, there were only plastic ones. Bummer.

But… my husband took the garbage out, and when he returned, he had a wire hanger in his hand. He found it sitting on the ground right in front of the trash cans. Unbelievable, but true.

He returned to the couple, and apparently, the man saw him coming. “Is that a wire hanger?” he asked, likely as incredulous as us.

Thus, our only preparation was Abraham’s story, and the universe provided.

And, you never know when or where someone might have a wire hanger.

Or maybe we’re all part of a larger story, in a story, in a story.
