Why do flowers bother?

Sometimes, I think of flowers as simplistic, easy, everywhere, common and even obvious.

And they are.

AND they are joyful, life-affirming, creative and spontaneous acts and beings. They are little miracles of happiness sprinkled along our streets, on canvas and in vases in the kitchen. So common, essential and truly mysterious

But who really cares? What value proposition do they have for you? They certainly don’t make media headlines – usually. They don’t care to get your attention.

And they grow anyway. They bloom anyway. They persist and tell these little truths, if we listen. This is a crazy, insane, messed up world and the flowers bloom here anyway.

And for that, I hope. I kind of hope that I can’t know everything. For this, I look to flowers and choose creation even when I want to let it go.
